About SGE Ltd
Design consultancy formed in 2019 by David Kay CEng (MICE). David has circa 20 years experience working as a geotechnical specialist for tier 1 Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation contractors (Stolt Offshore, Technip Offshore, Saipem UK Ltd and Subsea 7) most recently holding the position of Geotechnical Discipline Manager for Subsea 7's London, Paris and Kuala Lumper offices.
EPCI contractors must develop design solutions for subsea fields in all water depths and regions of the world. The work is typically performed under tight time constraints and the solution must be compatible with the proposed installation vessel(s). Whilst working for EPCI contractors design feedback is often provided instantaneously as vessels are constructing the field development and the requirement for 24 hr real time design support, either offshore or office based, is not uncommon.
It is under this backdrop that David has obtained industry experience and he considers the practical application of geotechnical engineering his specialist area.
